By the age of three, most dogs already show signs of gum disease — it's the most common health problem vets see, and it starts quietly, hidden under the lip.

Left alone, plaque hardens into tartar, gums become inflamed and painful, teeth loosen — and the bacteria don't stay in the mouth. They enter the bloodstream, where they can put strain on the heart, liver and kidneys. What looks like "just doggy breath" is often the first warning sign.

The usual fix is a veterinary dental — effective, but it means a general anaesthetic and a significant bill. Regular gentle maintenance is how you avoid getting there.

How the Emmi-pet works

Instead of scrubbing, the Emmi-pet toothbrush uses ultrasound — up to 96 million air oscillations per minute — to create micro-bubbles that break down plaque, tartar and bacteria on the tooth and below the gumline. It's completely silent and completely still: no buzzing, no vibrating head, no pressure. Most dogs simply relax into it, and nervous dogs are introduced gradually over a few visits.

About the studio

Meet Liu — the one pair of hands your dog will ever need here.

The Groomworks is run by Liu (Liudmila), a certified groomer who opened her home studio in New Malden so dogs could be groomed the way she believes is right: alone, calm, and never hurried.

There are no other dogs barking, no cages, and no strangers passing through. From nervous rescues to wriggly puppies to dignified seniors, every dog gets the same thing — her full attention, from first brush to final bow.
